Teepa

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 October 2026

This policy explains what Teepa collects, why, who it goes to, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

Teepa is operated by Teepa Inc. ("Teepa", "we", "us"), a New Jersey corporation. If you use teepa.app or the Teepa app, this policy applies to you.

1. The short version

We do not sell or share your personal information, in any sense, including as those words are defined in California law. We show no advertising and we build no advertising profiles.

We collect what the app needs to work: an account, your fighter or gym profile, and your bookings.

Your fighter card is public by design — that is the point of it. Your email address, your date of birth and your bookings are not.

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Two records survive it — what you agreed to, and what you paid. Section 11 says why.

2. What we collect

Account information

Fighter profile, if you create one

Gym or promoter profile, if you claim or create one

Activity

Payments

We never see or store your card number. When you pay a booking fee, your card details go straight to Stripe and are handled by Stripe, not by us. We receive confirmation that the payment succeeded, and may receive the card's brand and last four digits so you can tell your own cards apart.

Location

If you allow it, your browser gives us your approximate location so the app can show gyms nearest to you and sort them by distance. We use it for that search and keep it in your browser for that session. We do not save your location to your profile, and we do not build a history of where you have been — the only record of where you have been is the check-ins you choose to make, below. You can decline it and search by town, city or zip instead — nothing else in the app requires location.

Attendance check-in. When you check in at a gym, your phone shares its location once so we can confirm you're at that gym. We keep the check-in — which gym and when — not your location.

Technical information

Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs, which include IP address, browser type and the time of a request. These are used to keep the service running and secure.

3. What is public and what is not

This is the part worth reading twice, because Teepa is a directory and some of it is meant to be seen.

Public — visible to anyone, signed in or not

Not public

The gym you check in at can see your check-ins, and the gym's monthly board shows your name and number of check-ins once you've chosen to show a name, or if you have a fighter card. You can hide yourself at any time. The Teepa-wide board only shows you if you turn it on.

If you would rather not be listed publicly, do not create a fighter card. You can browse gyms and book drop-ins without one.

4. How we use it

5. Who else touches your information

We use a small number of outside services to run Teepa. They process information on our behalf, under contract, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Gyms and promoters. When you book a drop-in, the gym is told your name and which class you booked. When you raise your hand for a fight call, the promoter is told you are interested. Introductions between a fighter and a promoter happen in the app, and contact details are shared only when you choose to share them.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect someone's safety. If Teepa is ever acquired or merged, information may transfer as part of that business, and this policy will continue to apply until you are told otherwise.

6. Artificial intelligence

Teepa uses one AI feature: a gym owner can photograph their class schedule and have it read into the app as text. That photo is sent to Anthropic's API to be read, and the classes come back as text.

That photo is not used to train any AI model. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through its API. The photo is processed to produce the result and is not retained by us beyond that.

We do not use AI to make decisions about you, to score or profile you, or to decide anything that affects your access to the platform.

7. What we do not do

8. Age

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Teepa account. You must be at least 18 to book a drop-in or private session, to create a fighter card, to be listed publicly as a fighter, or to be matched to a fight call. If you are between 13 and 17, you may browse Teepa — gyms, schedules, events, fighters and promoters — follow them, react to posts, and report anything to us. You may not book a drop-in or a private session, check in at a gym, create a fighter card, post to the feed, create a promoter profile, list an event, or claim a gym. No adult may do any of those things on your behalf.

At that age, you may only use Teepa with the knowledge and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has signed up, contact us at the address below and we will remove it.

9. Your choices

Delete your account

Open the app, go to Account & settings, and choose Delete account. This removes your profile, your fighter card, your photos, your posts and your credentials. Gyms you have claimed are released back to unclaimed rather than deleted, so the listing survives for the next owner. This is permanent and we cannot undo it. See section 11 for the small number of things that outlive deletion.

Edit or correct your information

Everything on your profile and your gym page can be edited in the app at any time.

Stop the emails

Every fight-call email has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn fight-call notifications off in the app. Booking confirmations and cancellation notices are part of the service — if you do not want those, do not book.

Location

Turn it off in your browser or phone settings. The app works without it, except checking in at a gym, which needs it to confirm you're there.

Requests

You may ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to privacy@teepa.app from the email address on your account and we will respond within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

10. If you live in California

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Here is the required detail in plain terms.

CategoryWhat that means hereWhy we collect it
IdentifiersName, nickname, email address, account ID, IP addressTo run your account and the app
Customer recordsPhoto, physical characteristics such as weight and heightYour fighter card
Protected classificationsAge and date of birthAge gate; age shown on your card
Commercial informationDrop-in bookings and cancellations; check-ins at gymsTo take a booking and tell the gym; to count your check-ins and show them to that gym
Internet activityServer logs, pages requestedTo keep the service running and secure
GeolocationApproximate location, if you allow it; your location once, when you check in at a gymTo sort gyms by distance, and to confirm you're at the gym when you check in. Not stored on our servers — we keep the check-in, not the location.
Professional informationYour role at a gym, if you claim oneTo show who manages a listing
User contentPosts, photos, records you submitTo display them on Teepa

Sources. All of the above comes from you, except server logs, which are generated automatically, and gym listing data, which comes from public place data.

We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for any purpose other than providing the service. We have not sold or shared personal information in the previous twelve months, and we do not sell the personal information of anyone under 16.

Your rights. You may request to know what we have collected about you, to correct it, to delete it, and to obtain a portable copy. You may authorise someone to make a request for you. Email privacy@teepa.app. We verify requests by confirming control of the account email. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. If we refuse a request you may appeal by replying to our response.

11. How long we keep it

WhatHow long
Account and profileWhile your account exists. Deleted when you delete it.
Photos you uploadedDeleted with your account.
Posts and credentialsDeleted with your account.
BookingsKept by the gym for its own records; removed from your profile on deletion.
Check-ins and badgesWhile your account exists. Deleted when you delete it.
Terms acceptance recordSix years, then deleted. Survives account deletion — see below.
Payment and refund recordsSeven years, as tax and accounting records. Survives account deletion — see below.
Server logsShort retention set by our hosting providers, typically under 30 days.
BackupsOverwritten in the ordinary cycle, normally within 30 days.

What outlives deletion, and why. When you create an account, or claim a gym, we record the date, the version of the terms you agreed to, and the email address on the account. We keep that for six years — which matches how long a contract claim can be brought in New Jersey — so that we can show what was agreed if there is ever a dispute. It is never used to contact you, never used for marketing, and is deleted at the end of that period.

Payment records also outlive deletion, for a different reason. Tax law requires a business to keep records of what it was paid, so we keep a record of each booking fee and refund — the amount, the date, the booking, and the payment reference — for seven years. It contains no card number. Together with the terms acceptance record above, this is the only personal information that survives deleting your account.

12. Security

Access to your information is controlled at the database level, so one account cannot read another's private data. Writes go through checked, ownership-verified functions rather than direct table access. Passwords are hashed by our login provider and never stored by us.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

13. Where your information is held

Teepa is operated from the United States and your information is stored and processed there.

Teepa is intended for users in the United States. It is not directed to the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and we do not offer the service to people there.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
