Teepa
Last updated: 31 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Teepa Inc. ("Teepa", "we", "us") when you use teepa.app or the Teepa app. By creating an account, booking a drop-in, or claiming a gym, you agree to them.
Three things worth knowing before you read the rest.
Teepa is a directory and a booking tool. We are not a gym and we are not responsible for what happens at one.
Combat sports are dangerous. Section 4 asks you to accept that risk and to release us from claims arising out of your training.
Section 16 requires most disputes to go to individual arbitration instead of court, and gives up your right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action. You may opt out of it within 30 days.
Teepa is a directory and a booking tool. Teepa is not a gym. We do not own, run, staff, inspect, insure or supervise any gym, class, coach, event or fight listed on the platform. We are not a promoter, a sanctioning body, a sports commission, a medical provider, or your coach.
When you book a drop-in through Teepa, your agreement to train is with the gym, not with us. The gym sets its own prices, rules, schedule, requirements and waivers, and is responsible for its own premises, equipment, instruction, supervision and insurance.
Listings, schedules, prices, photographs and descriptions are supplied by gym owners, promoters and other users, or drawn from public place data. We do not verify them.
Claiming a gym listing is a statement that you own that gym or coach there and are authorised to manage its listing. Claiming a gym you have no connection to is a serious breach of these terms. We will release the listing and may remove your account.
Combat sports carry a real risk of serious injury, permanent disability and death.
Striking, grappling, sparring, conditioning and competition are inherently dangerous. Injuries happen to careful people at well-run gyms. You understand this, and every time you train you accept that risk voluntarily.
Teepa does not assess whether any gym is safe, whether a coach is qualified, whether a class suits your level, or whether you are fit to train. You are responsible for deciding all of that for yourself.
You should speak to a doctor before beginning or resuming training, and you must tell the gym about any injury, medical condition or medication that could affect your safety or anyone else's before you step on the mat.
Release.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Teepa Inc., its owners, officers, employees and contractors from any claim, demand, damage, cost or liability of any kind — including for bodily injury, illness, permanent disability, death, or damage to or loss of property — arising out of or connected with your use of Teepa, your attendance at any gym, class, session or event you found or booked through Teepa, or the conduct of any gym, coach, promoter, fighter or other user.
You agree not to bring a claim against Teepa for any of the above. This release does not apply to our own fraud, our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or to anything that cannot lawfully be released.
A gym may require you to sign its own waiver or release before training. That agreement is between you and the gym, it is usually a condition of being allowed on the mat, and nothing in these terms replaces it or takes its place.
You pay the gym directly. Teepa does not collect, hold, process or refund your drop-in fee, mat fee, pass or membership. Prices shown on a gym's page are supplied by that gym and may be out of date. Refunds, credits, no-show policies and disputes about what the gym charged you are the gym's to set and to resolve.
Teepa charges a booking fee. When you book a class or a private session through Teepa, we charge you a booking fee — currently $3 per booking. That fee is ours, not the gym's. It pays for the booking; it is not part of what you owe the gym and is not credited against it. You will see the fee before you confirm, and we will never charge you anything you have not agreed to at the time.
Refunds on the booking fee. Cancel any time before the class or session starts and we refund the booking fee in full. You can cancel in the app. We also refund in full if the gym cancels, deletes or reschedules a class or session you booked, on or before the day it was due to take place, or if the gym turns you away for a reason that is the gym's and not yours. We do not refund the fee once the class or session has started, or if you do not show up. A gym or coach can ask us to refund a fee anyway — if something came up for you on the day, for example — and we will generally do it.
Card payments. Booking fees are processed by Stripe, Inc. Teepa does not see or store your full card number. Stripe handles your card details under its own terms and privacy policy.
Gyms pay us nothing. Listing on Teepa, taking bookings and being paid at the door are free for gyms. We may introduce paid features for gyms later, and we will tell a gym what any fee is before it is asked to pay it.
Teepa lets a coach confirm a fighter's belt, and a promoter confirm a bout fought on their card. A "verified" mark means a specific person at a specific gym or promotion said it was true. It does not mean Teepa checked it, witnessed it, or holds evidence of it. We make no representation that any record, belt, result or credential on Teepa is accurate.
Promoters can post open bouts, and fighters who match the criteria can raise their hand. Teepa passes on the interest and lets the two sides talk. Contact details are shared only when you choose to share them.
Teepa does not arrange, sanction, approve, supervise, insure or take part in any fight. Whether a bout happens, on what terms, under whose rules, with what medical clearance, insurance and licensing, is entirely between the fighter, the promoter and whichever authority governs that event.
You are responsible for your own eligibility, licensing, medical clearance and compliance with the rules of any commission or sanctioning body. Fight calls are open to adults only — nobody under 18 may create a fighter card or be matched to a bout through Teepa, and minors are never matched against adults.
You keep ownership of everything you post. You are responsible for it, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
By posting content on Teepa you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, modify for formatting and display, publish, publicly perform and distribute that content: (a) in order to operate, provide and improve Teepa, and (b) to promote Teepa, including in screenshots, app store listings, social media and marketing material.
This licence lasts as long as the content is on Teepa, and continues afterwards only for copies already made in the ordinary course — for example a marketing image already published, or a backup not yet overwritten. To the extent the law allows, you waive any moral rights you have in content you post.
We do not have to publish or keep any content, and we may remove or limit anything at any time.
Our Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these terms and sets out what you may and may not post. In short: trash talk and strong opinions are fine, targeting real people is not, and anything involving a minor unsafely is removed and reported.
You also agree not to scrape the platform, reverse engineer it, probe it for vulnerabilities, resell access to it, use it to send unsolicited messages, or use automated means to create accounts or bookings.
You can report any post, profile, gym or event from inside the app, and you can block another user.
If you believe something on Teepa infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@teepa.app with: your contact details; identification of the work; where the material is on Teepa; a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised; a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them; and your signature.
We remove infringing material, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address.
You can delete your account at any time from Account & settings.
We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, puts someone at risk, exposes us to legal liability, or that we are required to remove. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why.
Teepa is provided as it is and as available. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.
We do not promise that Teepa will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that anything in it is complete, accurate or current. Gym listings, schedules, prices, availability and records come from gym owners, promoters, other users and public place data, and can be wrong or out of date. Call ahead if something matters.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Teepa will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or connected with these terms or your use of Teepa, whether or not we were told such damages were possible.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims in the aggregate is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid Teepa in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for our own fraud, our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited. Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Teepa Inc. and its owners, officers, employees and contractors from any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with: content you posted; your use of Teepa; your breach of these terms; a gym listing you claimed or managed; a record or credential you submitted or verified; or your conduct at any gym, class, session or event.
Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights.
It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual, binding arbitration rather than in court. It means you give up your right to a jury trial and your right to take part in a class action or other representative proceeding. You may opt out within 30 days and nothing else in these terms changes if you do.
Before starting arbitration, you agree to tell us about the dispute in writing at support@teepa.app, with enough detail for us to understand and try to resolve it. We will do the same for a dispute we have with you. Both sides agree to try in good faith for 60 days. This step is a precondition to starting arbitration.
If we cannot resolve it, any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of Teepa will be settled by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section.
Arbitration will take place in New Jersey, or by telephone or video, or in your home county if you prefer — your choice. The arbitrator decides the dispute, and may award the same individual relief a court could. The arbitrator's decision is final and binding, and judgment on it may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
You and Teepa each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any form of class proceeding. If this paragraph is found unenforceable, the whole of section 16 is unenforceable and the dispute goes to court.
An arbitration demand must be signed personally by the person bringing it and must describe what actually happened to them. A bulk filing of identical demands on behalf of many people is not a valid demand under this agreement.
Either side may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, and either side may go to court for an injunction to stop misuse of intellectual property or unauthorised access to the platform. Nothing here prevents you from reporting anything to a government agency.
You can opt out of arbitration by emailing support@teepa.app with the subject line "Arbitration opt-out" and your account email, within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Opting out costs you nothing and changes nothing else. If you opt out, disputes go to the courts described in section 17.
This section survives the end of your account and of these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. For any dispute not subject to arbitration, you and Teepa agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New Jersey.
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use Teepa after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, delete your account.
